South Korea’s Historic Arrest Attempt on President Yoon Ends in Standoff

South Korean investigators recently tried to arrest President Yoon Suk Yeol on insurrection charges, but the attempt was unsuccessful. Investigators spent almost six hours trying to carry out the arrest at Yoon’s residence but faced resistance from both military units and his security service.

The situation started when investigators arrived at the presidential compound in Seoul, where they were blocked by heavy security. After overcoming the military unit inside, they were met with the President’s Security Service, who continued to protect Yoon.

Yoon’s lawyer argued that the arrest was unlawful and promised to take legal action against the investigators for carrying out an “illegal” warrant.

Seoul court issued a warrant for arrest the of Yoon. Yoon failed to appear for questioning and blocked searches of his offices which led to the issue of a warrant in case of martial law.

Supporters of President Yoon are protesting against the arrest. They are chanting “fight until the end” to protect.

If this arrest of Yoon happened then he would become the first sitting president in South Korea to be detained. This is raising the heat in South Korea.
