Sixth Prisoner Swap Mediated by UAE Between Russia and Ukraine

The emerging peacemaker UAE is making more successful efforts to set an example towards a peaceful world. They are working towards humanitarian aid, coming forward to help countries in need, and standing up for humanity, as the UAE called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and Ukraine advocated a halt to military action in the Sudan Crisis.  The UAE is standing strong with many countries beyond its borders.

This is the sixth round of prisoner exchange mediated by the United Arab Emirates between Russia and Ukraine. In this 6th round of prisoner exchange 190 prisoners of war mediated by the United Arab Emirates.

In an official post on Telegram, the Russian Defence Ministry said that on JULY 17th both side exchanged prisoners. They said each side exchanged 75 war prisoners.

Ukrainian president Zelenskiy also confirmed the news through his official account on Telegram and X.

Ukrainian President Zelensky thanked the UAE for their constant support during the exchange.

Zelenskiy said, “I am thankful to our team involved in prisoners’ exchange and the United Arab Emirates for facilitating the release”. “No matter how difficult it is, we are looking for everyone who may be in captivity. We must return everyone.”

The Ukrainian president also said that the exchange was of the soldiers of Ukraine’s armed forces, servicemen of the National Guard, and border guards.

This is the 6th time exchange of prisoners. UAE is promoting harmony to establish peace in the region. Since Jan 2024 there have been five successful rounds of swap between Russia and Ukraine.

UAE has continuously maintained its stand since the conflict started between Russia and Ukraine. The UAE brokered a similar prisoner swap between the United States and Russia in December 2022, further solidifying its role as a trusted mediator on the international stage.
