British comedian and actor Russell Brand has been charged with multiple sexual offenses, including rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault. The charges involve four women and cover incidents said to have happened between 1999 and 2005.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Brand has been charged with:
Brand, 49, has denied all allegations in the past, calling them “very, very hurtful.” He is currently believed to be in the United States and has been asked to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 2, 2025.
The Crown Prosecution Service said it carefully reviewed the evidence before authorising the charges. They reminded the public that Brand is presumed innocent and has the right to a fair trial.
