Rob Gronkowski who is a Former New England Patriots star is breaking the headlines with his strong stand about the recent incident of firing head coach Jored Mayu.

Rob Gronkowski has publicly criticized the decision to fire head coach Jerod Mayo after just one season. He called this move of firing is “unfair.”

While speaking to the NFL on FOX broadcast,he expressed disappointment in the decision:

“I was shocked by that, and for it to happen so soon was surprising to a lot of people. I think it was unfair to coach Jerod Mayo. He never had the chance to develop as a head coach. Judging someone on their first year alone is not appropriate.”

He also highlighted the historical role of coaches like Bill Belichick and Jimmy Johnson. These coaches had overcome after the poor first-season performances.

Jerod Mayo is a former linebacker and longtime Patriots assistant. He was appointed as head coach of New England Patriots after the Bill Belichick. The official tenure as a head coach lasted only one season and it ended up immediately after the Patriots secured a 23-16 win against the Buffalo Bills in the season finale.

The Patriots finished the 2024 NFL season with a 4-13 record—the same as last year under Belichick.

Message to the NFL: Coaching Requires Patience

Simply firing coordinators was never a good solution. The Patriots lacked top-tier prospects last year. Who will fix the sinking ship? A fresh start will bring better staff. Though obviously there is an element here that feels unfair to Mayo.
