Riteish Deshmukh starrer ‘Raja Shivaji’ to get a Global Multi- Language Release

Riteish Deshmukh’s ‘Raja Shivaji’ based on one of the Greatest Indian kings – Chhatrapati Shivaji is planned to have a global multi- language release all set for Maharashtra Day 2026. The movie is helmed by Riteish Deshmukh who is also starring in the titular role with the movie planned to be released in six Indian languages – Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. 

‘Raja Shivaji’ chronicles the tale of India’s most celebrated warrior from his young times to becoming a leader. His journey into establishing the mighty Maratha kingdom and laying out the map for a swarajya in a crucial period of Indian history. 

Along with Riteish Deshmukh is an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, and Amole Gupte. The movie is also produced by Mumbai Film Company with Genelia D’Souza joining as a producer along with Jio Studios.  

‘Raja Shivaji’ is set to begin filming in Mumbai, Wai and Maharashtra with veteran cinematographer Santosh Shivan behind the camera on his first Marathi project. Musical duo Ajay- Atul are composing for the epic historical action movie as the production is underway. A certified story for the masses as acknowledged by the monumental success of Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Chhava’.

Backed by an ensemble of some of the finest talents from across industries, this film is one of the most ambitious ventures we’ve undertaken”, says Jyoti Deshpande, president of Jio Studios, reports Deadline. ‘Raja Shivaji’ is slated for a grand and epic release on 1 May 2026.
