Rio Carnival: Top 10 “Blocos” (Street Parties) You Can Still Join for Free

Rio Carnival 2026 (Feb 13-21) consists of 400+ free blocos (i.e., spontaneous street parties with live samba bands) and attracts millions of people. Blocos do not require any entry fee as opposed to ticketed Sambadrome parades; they only need costumes, water, and energy. Even the favorites, such as Cordão do Bola Preta (100K+ people attended), Monobloco (Centro takeover), and Simpatia É Quase Amor, are still available during the middle of the festival through Riotur app updates.
