What’s the status of Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Don 3’? Music Director Shankar Mahadevan spills the tea

As Bollywood is on the march of focusing on franchises and sequels, many are wondering about the ‘Don 3’ project announced with Ranveer Singh as the lead in 2023, directed by Farhan Akhtar. The makers have yet to follow up on any updates yet but Music Composer Shankar Mahadevan recently gave potential details on the movie.

In a recent exclusive interview with Zoom, Singer, Music Composer Shankar Mahadevan was asked about the status of ‘Don 3’ movie and whether the preparations for composing music for the movie has started. “We haven’t started the music setting yet. Hopefully, they (the makers) will be setting soon”, said Shankar Mahadevan.

The singer has a long association with the Akhtar siblings – Farhan and Zoya who shot the ‘Breathless’ music video and further worked in projects like ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and ‘Luck By Chance’ is now also joining the ‘Don 3’ after composing for ‘Don’ and ‘Don 2’ crew.

The third movie in ‘Don’ franchise was initially set to have Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani as the leads, later it was rumoured that  Kriti Sanon was roped in place of Kiara and Vikrant Massey was also added to the cast, nothing confirmed by the makers still.

Ranveer Singh is taking a break from acting for a while as he was out of the spotlight after the birth of his daughter Dua and has yet to make any comments about the ‘Don’ franchise. The first post after the movie was announced had Ranveer posting the following on his Instagram, “I understand what a great responsibility it is to be a part of the ‘Don’ dynasty. I hope the audience gives me a chance and showers me with love, the way they have for numerous characters over the past so many years”.
