Wildfire smoke is very hazardous, not only for us but also for our pets. Today we are here with some tips to protect your pets from wildfire smoke.
Your pet’s eyes and respiratory tract can be irritated by the smoke of wildfire and sometimes can lead to more serious situations. As per the EPA, some of the most affected pet populations are those pets who are already suffering from lung or heart disease, along with the pets who are older. Here are some symptoms that you must look out for in your pets and call your veterinarian if the symptoms persist:

-reduction in thrust and appetite
-Gagging or coughing
-Watery or red eyes
-Fatigue or weakness
-Problem in breathing.
Wildfire smoke is injurious for the health of your pets. Wildfire smoke consists of microscopic particles, which can cause serious health problems. It is important to keep your pets safe from this smoke. Here are some tips to protect your pets from wildfire smoke.
1) Keep your pets indoors with doors and windows shut. Try to reduce the time of your pets for outdoor activities and provide some playful activities for your pets indoors.
2) If you are taking your pets outside from bathroom leaks, then keep their outings limited. Before taking your pet outside, the foremost thing you should do is to check the air quality. If the air quality is bad do not take your pet outside it can lead to risks to their health.
3) Wipe the fur with a wet cloth after bringing your pet from the outing. Whenever you take your pet for an outing it is necessary that after returning home you should clean the body and fur of your pet to get rid of particles and unwanted bacterias which can pose health issues.
4) If you have outdoor pets, then bring your pets into a room with good ventilation.If you are keeping your outdoor pests inside a room make sure that the room is big and does not have hazardous products and pesticides.
5) Use an air cleaner or filter to keep indoor air clean. Do not burn candles or use a fireplace as these activities can also lead to increased particles in the air which can also harm the health of your pets.
1) For the central air conditioning system, use filters of high efficiency to capture particles of smoke.
2) Keep your rooms clean with a portable air cleaner.
3) Keep watching the air quality levels.
4)During poor air quality days it is important to keep track of the health of your pets. Regularly check for the symptoms to ensure their well being.
5)Give your pets bath regularly as their saliva. Fur and dander can also lead to respiratory issues. Regular bathing and grooming helps in reducing the number of allergens in the air.
