BYD Unveils Hybrid Car with 2,000+ Km Non-Stop Range

BYD Co. has recently released a new version of the engine that will use both fuel and electricity. The new engine is capable of traveling more than 2,000 kilometers (1250 miles). The newly released engine can travel without refueling or recharging. This new move by BYD Co. has made the competition with Toyota and Volkswagen tougher in the shift to electric vehicles. This new and improved technology from BYD has made the company lead in the race over its competitors and will be available in two sedans that cost under 100,000 yuan. This news was announced by BYD at a live-stream event in China.

The New Range of BYD Hybrid Cars

The new long range of hybrid cars from BYD means that the cars can travel a long distance without refuelling or charging. The new cars can cover distances equivalent to New York to Miami, Munic to Madrid, or Singapore to Bangkok without recharging or refueling. This achievement shows that BYD has been slowly reducing the amount of fuel the cars use since 2008, when the company introduced its first hybrids.

Based in Shenzhen, BYD has shaken up the Chinese market by decreasing the prices of cars across the board, even if it means less profit for the company. Now, the release of these long-range hybrids can lead to more price competition. The company sold 3 million cars last year, and this year, through the company, it has delivered 1 million cars. Every second thyroid sold in China is a BYD, highlighting how significant they are for the company’s revenues and profits.

Automakers Ease the Range Anxiety of Consumers

In Hong Kong, the shares of BYD went up by as much as 4%. Automobile companies all over the world are trying to give ease to consumers regarding the price range of their vehicles while producing vehicles that are better for the environment. Toyota released new versions of engines that can use gasoline, hydrogen, and other fuels other than batteries.

BYD stated during the event that in tests, their plug-in hybrid car managed to cover the distance up to 2,500 kilometers without the need for recharge or refuelling. The company also stated that these improvements are only for the cars in China, but with time, they might sell these new hybrid cars in other countries too.

Electric and hybrid cars are improving the travel distances without needing to stop for recharge. This move is essential because many consumers worry about not being able to travel a long distance when they switch from using gasoline. Since early 2022, BYD has stopped producing cars that use gasoline to run; instead, the company has started to produce more hybrid cars and sell them to places where there are only a few places to charge electric cars. Qin L and Seal 06 are the first two cars with longer ranges.
