In an historic maiden series planned to have the Nepal Cricket team and the West Indies team to face off for the first time is locked in. The news was announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday.
The West Indies team will face Nepal for the first time in September 2025 for a three match T20 International games, all set to be played in Sharjah, UAE. The matches will be a clever way for the West Indian side to pull through their slack and gear up for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Meanwhile the Nepal team led by Rohit Paudel will be looking for a refresher for the Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifier campaign, set to happen in October.
The ICC Men’s T20 Asia/East Asia- Pacific tournament is a part of the 2026 T20I World Cup and Nepal is eyeing a spot in the remaining three positions.
On the historic match up between West Indies and Nepal, Chris Dehring, the Chief Executive of West Indies cricket said, “(This series) is testament to what cricket represents: pride, purpose, and the power of unity. Supporting Nepal in this key phase of their cricketing journey not only builds the sport at the grassroots and international levels but also reminds us of the deep pride and honour associated with representing our nation and wearing our national colours.
