middle east crisis escalating conflict claims 40 lives in lebanon as israel intensifies strikes
As confirmed by the health ministry of Lebanon Israeli airstrikes have intensified across Lebanon. According to the ministry, at least 40 people were reported dead near Baalbek in the Bekaa Valley on Wednesday.
Further strikes targeted Beirut’s southern suburbs late Wednesday and into Thursday morning, signaling a sharp escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
In addition to the airstrikes Israeli forces carried out ground incursions in southern Lebanon, prompting evacuation orders in parts of Beirut. The recent surge in violence adds to a year-long conflict unfolding alongside the Gaza war.
Efforts to ease tensions through diplomacy have faltered. Last week a U.S.-led attempt to establish a 60-day ceasefire failed, just before Donald Trump was re-elected as President of the United States. The situation remains volatile as both sides continue to clash.
