Messi’s Return to India After 14 Years

The GOAT Tour of India 2025 was first unveiled on August 15, with Messi confirming his attendance on Thursday. Messi recollected his last visit to India in 2011 by saying, India is a very special country, and I have pleasant memories of my visit 14 years ago. I have never encountered such wonderful fans, and I can only expect to see another generation of fans.

The action begins in Kolkata on December 13, at the iconic Salt Lake Stadium, where fans will witness the Messi Kolkata Event featuring the GOAT Cup and GOAT Concert. Messi will be joining the Indian sports stars like Sourav Ganguly, Bhaichung Bhutia, and Leander Paes. Durga Puja will be celebrated by a 25-foot mural in the city, Messi, the biggest statue, and a tea festival, a tribute to his passion, Argentine yerba mate, mixed with Assam tea. Ticket prices start at ₹3,500 on the District app.

In Mumbai on December 14, Messi will participate in the Messi Mumbai Padel Cup at Brabourne Stadium. Even cricket and Bollywood stars such as Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Shah Rukh Khan are supposed to be part of the celebrations. Meet and greet sessions, cultural performances, and the close of the tour will be conducted in Ahmedabad and New Delhi. The Messi New Delhi Meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 15 will be the highlight of the final day.

A Festival of Football and Culture

The Messi India Tour 2025 will be much more than football—it promises concerts, fan meets, food festivals, football masterclasses, and celebrity matches. The promoter Satadru Dutta, who has made the deal after consulting Messi and his father, has assured a blend of Indian and Argentine culture to the world.

Security will be of high concern with the international team of Messi and local Indian authorities close to work.

In parallel, the Argentina Team India Friendly 2025 is set to take place in Kerala in November during the FIFA international window (Nov 10–18). This gives the added intrigue that Messi and the Argentina national team might visit India twice in two months.

The last visit was in 2011, when Messi visited Kolkata, where Argentina played Venezuela. Now, the Messi India Tour 2025 is expected to attract record-breaking crowds, with global media and fans eagerly awaiting the world champion’s arrival.
