The Dallas Mavericks star who is often seen leading the pack by occupying the key role of point guard / shooting guard, won the Defensive Player of the Year Award for making his team cruise on after shooting the winner against the Minnesota Timberwolves. 

Journey to NBA, Achievements and Records

Luca Doncic’s journey started as a 14 year old in the Vesas Intesa Sanpaolo cup in Budapest in 2011 where he was the MVP. In feb 2012 he went to Real Madrid on Loan for an under 14 tournament, the Maricopa Endesa and led the club to a second place finish in the season. For his exceptional performance, he was awarded the Best MVP of the Tournament.

Later he joined the senior team in 2015-16 and participated in a pre-season game for the club going against Boston Celtics where he performed well by grabbing 4 rebounds, doing one assist and one block. 

He played for the Real Madrid Club till 2018 having won the ACB title 3 times 2016, 2017, and 2018 respectively and the Euro League in 2018. Adding to that, he also won the regular season award and Final Four MVP awards in the Euro League as the youngest player being 19 years at that time.

He later joined the National Basketball Association League signing up with Dallas Mavericks in 2019 and is still continuing with the club. He has won numerous awards and accolades personally and with the Club such as the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2019, NBA All Rookie 1st Team of the Year, and 3 times NBA All Star Awards along with NBA All 1st Team from 2020-22 to name a few. 

Doncic’s Net Worth

Luca’s current net worth is $55.1 million and growing. The star signed a massive contract with the Dallas Mavericks amounting to $207 million that began in 2022-23. He currently is at 34th position in the World’s highest paid athletes list by Forbes Magazine

In 2019, he signed a multi year endorsement deal with Air Jordan and a two year contract with Nike in 2021. His per annum salary is over $43 million.

Family

Doncic was born to Sasa Doncic and Mirjam Poterbin. His father was a former basketball player and coach and mother was into the makeup industry as she used to run a beauty salon. After his parents split up and he went to his mom’s custody, Luca was trained to be a professional basketball player. As of now, her mother Mirjam looks after the business deals off the court and is an entrepreneur and business model.

He also has a girlfriend by the name of Anamaria Goltes who is also from Slovenia and a fashion influencer. 

Tattoos

The Slovenian hurricane has quite a few tattoos in his body. From the arm where a spirited eagle is seen meaning courage and freedom, to just below this where an Eye of the God is drawn. There’s a tattoo on the shoulder too where Captain Jack Sparrow can be seen along with a fourth tattoo of a tiger on the inner side of the forearm showing independence.
