liverpool footballer diogo jota dead car accident spain
Liverpool player Diogo Jota. 28 and his brother Andre Filipe, 26 were travelling in North Spain when their car suddenly went off road, catching fire that killed both the footballers. Both the players had a fatal accident on Thursday morning where their Lamborghini crashed off road, confirmed by the Spanish Civil Guard.
Jota and his brother Andre were driving overnight through the Cernadilla Municipality. It is said that approximately around 12.30 AM the car tire burst while they were overtaking, swiveling the car off road, fatally catching fire, killing the Portuguese Footballers.
The Spanish Civil Guard, the Zamora Provincial Council Fire Department and the Emergency Unit were alerted to the crash location soon but unable to rescue them. It is also unfortunate as Jota just recently got married to his longtime partner Rute Cardosa on 22 June 2025.
The brothers were travelling only days after the wedding ceremony where the couple who have been together since 2012 got married after having three children. Andre is also a Footballer who played for the Portuguese Second division Penafiel.
Diogo Jota was traded from Wolverhampton to Liverpool in 2020 for €44.7 million and has played 182 matches representing the Merseyside club with 65 goals and 26 assists under his name. His major titles include The Premier League Title (2024 – 2025), an FA Cup title (2021- 2022) and a League Cup Title (2021- 2022).
