The Israeli government and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire, to pause fighting in Gaza and release hostages and Palestinian prisoners. With the formal announcement, it is expected that HAMAS will release around 33 hostages seized from Israel during the attacks of October 7, 2023, and Israel will free hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
Hamas has asked Gaza residents to dont move until the official start of a recently agreed ceasefire. In a statement, the media office of HAMAS said: “We urge citizens not to move before the official start of the ceasefire. Please rely only on official sources for updates about the timing.”
Upcoming U.S. President Donald Trump also shared his quick reaction to the Israel-Hamas hostage agreement on Truth Social. He wrote, “We have a deal for the hostages in the Middle East. They will be released shortly. Thank you!”
Trump credited this ceasefire deal for his political victory in November. He highlighted the role of his national security team, and the role of the special envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff. He also ensures that Gaza does not again become a haven for terrorists.
Trump also said his team will continue working for peace through strength in the region.
The Gaza Civil Defence has appealed to residents not to celebrate this ceasefire deal with gunfires to avoid injuring people.
They said, “We request you not to fire in the air for fear of injuring displaced people in tents and shelters, We do not want to be saddened by more martyrs and injured.”
