Kamala Harris Breaks Tradition with Early DNC Speech Thanking President Joe Biden

In a surprise speech on the opening day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris expressed her deep gratitude to President Joe Biden for his “lifetime of service” to the nation. The 59-year-old leader, of Indian descent, lauded Biden’s historic leadership, emphasizing that the country is “forever grateful” for his contributions.

“I want to start by celebrating our incredible president, Joe Biden. Joe, thank you for your historic leadership and your lifetime of service to our nation. We are forever grateful to you,” Harris remarked, receiving enthusiastic applause from the crowd. Traditionally, presidential nominees deliver their speeches on the final day of the convention, but Harris’s early address broke the norm, making a significant impact on the event’s first day.

Harris is expected to officially accept her nomination for the November U.S. elections during the convention. She emphasized the unity of the American people, stating, “People from every corner of our country and every walk of life are here, and this November, we will come together and declare with one voice that we are moving forward. Let us always remember—when we fight, we win.”

Trump’s Controversial Question: Is Kamala Harris Black or Indian?

The four-day convention, concluding on August 22, will see Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz officially nominated as the Democratic candidates for president and vice president. President Biden is anticipated to deliver a “swan song” address, endorsing Harris against former President Donald Trump. Additionally, former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton are expected to speak, and the Democrats will honor Hillary Clinton, their 2016 presidential candidate.
