Israel Confirms Killing Hezbollah Leader Hashem Safieddine in Beirut Strike

Israel has confirmed the killing of Hashem Safieddine. Hashem Safieddine is a key Hezbollah leader and the apparent successor to Hassan Nasrallah.

According to the WION and several news sources, Hezbollah leader killed in an airstrike three weeks ago in a southern suburb of Beirut. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously mentioned that Israeli forces had “taken out” several high-ranking Hezbollah leaders but did not name Safieddine directly at the time.

Israel’s military officially announced on Tuesday that Safieddine, who was the head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council along with Ali Hussein Hazima, the head of Hezbollah‘s Intelligence Directorate were killed in the strike. This attack was targeted main intelligence headquarters of Hezbollah in Dahiyeh. Dahiyeh was a strong point of Hezabollah.

Safieddine was a relative of Nasrallah and he had strong ties with Iran. This is the reason why he could be the next Hezbollah leader. Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi the ar,y chief of Israel confirmed his death. He said, “reached Nasrallah, his replacement, and most of Hezbollah’s senior leadership.” But the Hezbollah has not yet commented on the claims.
