All is great in the world of romance again as director Imtiaz Ali is returning to the silver screen with a romantic film with young talents on board. The visionary director is back in direction after ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ and is yet again joining hands with Diljit Dosanjh for his next project.
The project yet to be titled was announced on Saturday, with a press note from the makers and announced the cast, shooting schedule and the release date. Imtiaz Ali will be directing Diljith Dosanjh, Sharvari and Vedang Raina for his next, which also has the legendary actor Naseruddin Shah on board.
The movie was announced on actress Sharvari’s birthday too and here’s how she shared the news in an Instagram post, “What an incredible surprise to see this announcement happen on my birthday! Best birthday ever! @imtiazaliofficial sir, I have manifested to be directed by you ever since I’ve dreamt to be an actor.. This will be the most amazing learning experience for me.. It is an honour to be a part of your vision… Thank you for choosing me.. It feels so special to be a part of this dream team @naseeruddin49 @diljitdosanjh @vedangrainaEeeeppp!!! So excited for this new journey.”
Imtiaz Ali is also joined by his crew of Music Director AR Rahman and lyricist Irshad Kamli. On announcing the film, the director quoted poet Momin’s words, “Tum mere paas hote ho goya, Jab koi doosra nahi hota’ (‘You are with me, however, When there is no one else’).” Drawing a line between the plot, Ali said “Momin Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart? This film has a big heart. It has a large canvas, yet is very personal. It is a story of a boy and a girl, but also a country. Wish us well as we dive into the currents of this dynamic story, we hope to emerge next year with a touching cinematic experience in a theatre near you.”
The movie is scheduled to start shooting in August 2025 and a release date is set on Baisakhi 2026.
