Tom Cruise, Dolly Parton to receive Honorary Oscar Awards!

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has announced four Honorary awards for Hollywood legends. This includes actor, producer Tom Cruise, who is known for his Impossible stunts and a successful career in the industry. The announcement drops only a month after the eighth film of his infamous franchise ‘Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning’ was out.

Along with Tom Cruise, the Academy has also announced an Honorary Oscar award for the iconic choreographer and actor Debbie Allen and Production Designer Wynn Thomas were announced as recipients of the award. Also known as The Governor’s Award, the Honorary Award, an Oscar statuette, is given “to honour extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences in any discipline, or for outstanding service to the Academy”.

Yet another Hollywood Music Legend and philanthropist Dolly Parton will be presented the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. All of the four recipients will be awarded at the 16th Annual Governor’s Awards that is set to take place on 16 November, 2025.

Janet Yang, the president of the Academy shared that, “ This year’s Governors Awards will celebrate four legendary individuals whose extraordinary careers and commitment to our filmmaking community continue to leave a lasting impact,” in the official website.

She also shared the vision and decision behind the Academy to honor the legends and said, “”Debbie Allen is a trailblazing choreographer and actor whose work has captivated generations and crossed genres. Tom Cruise’s incredible commitment to our filmmaking community, to the theatrical experience, and to the stunt community has inspired us all.
