Harris vs. Trump: Polls Show Nail-Biting Close Race Ahead of November 5 Election

Last updated on November 2nd, 2024 at 04:47 am

Recent polls show a tight race in the U.S. presidential election between Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump. With nearly 60 million early votes already cast by mail or in person as of Wednesday, anticipation is high for the November 5 election, which promises to be a close contest.

According to a Fox poll, Trump leads Harris by a single percentage point in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Other battleground states this year include Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and Wisconsin.

A CNN poll showed a tighter race, with the two candidates tied at 48% in Pennsylvania. Harris holds a six-point lead in Wisconsin and a five-point lead in Michigan. Similarly, CBS News found the two candidates neck and neck at 49% in Pennsylvania. To secure victory, either candidate needs to reach 270 electoral votes.

Real Clear Polling which averages major polls is giving Trump a slight national lead of 0.4 percentage points and a one-point advantage in the battleground states. Trump is also leading in betting markets with 63.1 points over Harris’s 35.8.

Meanwhile The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board argued that a Harris victory would signify a continuation of the Obama-era progressive policies, suggesting her presidency would align with what it called “a fourth Obama term.”

The Washington Post is indicating that while Harris has maintained her national lead and her edge in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nevada, her advantage in Pennsylvania has slightly narrowed. According to CNN Trump took the leads in Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina and Democrate candidate Harris is in stronger position in some of the key states in Americas.
