Deputy Prime Ministers, Foreign Ministers, and senior officials from the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh/ISIS gathered together in Washington, D.C., for the 10th Ministerial Meeting. The meeting was organized by U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken. This coalition is the largest international alliance in history. According to the official website of US Government, Global Coalition Ministers commit to supporting the Government of Iraq’s efforts to safeguard the security, peace, and development of the Iraqi people. Currently there are 87 members in this coalition.
Maldives is the 87th member and the newest member of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh/ISIS , they also highlighted increased engagement from Central Asian and African states in this coalition. The leaders showed their commitment ensure the security of their respective nations, and promote global peace and stability.
The ministry of foreign affairs of Republic of Maldives confirmed it through a press release. They said, The Maldives participated in the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh/ISIS (D-ISIS).
The meeting also celebrated their ten-year anniversary and recognized the sacrifices of those fighting for the liberation of Iraq and Syria from Daesh/ISIS. According to the official news sources, in this meeting leaders again shows their commitment to support Iraq and its security.
According to the official press release by the global coalition, Coalition’s military mission in Iraq is transitioning to bilateral partnerships, reflecting a reduction in the Daesh/ISIS threat. Ministers praised Iraq’s continued cooperation in countering the terrorist group and its leadership in initiatives aimed at stabilization and countering financing.
During the meeting, leaders showed support to the $394 million for stabilization projects for Iraq and Syria. They discussed strategies to rehabilitate conflict-affected regions of these two nations which will enable the return of displaced families, restore essential services, and make the region peaceful again.
Another notable presence in the meeting was of UAE. HE Sultan Al Shamsi participated in the meeting to represent UAE. He highlighted the commitment of UAE to fight against Daesh and all forms of extremism. He highlighted the importance of cooperation and resilience-building in vulnerable communities. From the stage of Coalition meeting the gulf nation UAE promoted its belief that terrorism must not be associated with any religion, nationality, or ethnicity. They strongly condemned all forms of terrisiom.

This small gulf nation always comes forward with strong inspiration to stand strong against all form of terrorism. UAE had already in partner with US to counter terrorism.
