Fight stops & Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. John Gotti III Match Turns Into Chaos
On Sunday night, the sixth round of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. John Gotti III’s exhibition boxing match was called off due to chaos.
More than half of the fight was spent in trash-talk between Mayweather and Gotti, and referee Kenny Bayless struggled mightily to keep them apart and stop their yammering. Things started to get ugly after Bayless broke up the fight.
In an effort to catch Mayweather, Gotti began to swerve around Bayless. As both of their teams entered the ring, more shoving and pushing ensued, and the two then began to throw punches at one another. Mayweather returned to his corner while Gotti was shoved into his.
Since defeating Conor McGregor in 2017, Mayweather hasn’t engaged in any professional combat. His career record is 50-0, with 27 knockouts. Instead, he has engaged in profitable exhibition fights with opponents ranging from Logan Paul to Gotti. The contest was declared invalid.
With a 2-0 professional record, Gotti was fighting in his third boxing contest. His MMA record is 5-1. He frequently shared videos of the post-fight brawl on his Instagram Stories. He referred to Mayweather as a “punk b—-” and a “enemy for life.”
