Ding Liren Under Fire After Blunder in World Chess Championship Final, Filatov Calls for Investigation

After the moment when D Gukesh secured the world chess champion tag many reports are emerging against the behaviour of Chinese chess player Ding Liren . After the match India’s Gukesh became the youngest ever World Chess Champion at the age of 18. But Ding Liren is under questions.

According to the reports, former world champion Vladimir Kramnik criticized the quality of the games played by Ding. He said Ding’s blunder in the 14th round was “childish” and “weak” behaviour.

After this a report came which is highlighting that, the president of the Russian Chess Federation Andrei Filatov expressed his concerns to the International Chess Federation and asked for an investigation against the behaviour of Ding.

According to him the strange and suspicious behaviour of Ding allowed the Indian player Gukesh  won the match during the last game.

The blunder happened in the dying moments of the 14th and final game when Ding, under time pressure, made a critical misstep while trying to force a draw. This error allowed Gukesh, who was 18 years old at the time to become the youngest-ever World Chess Champion.

Though the Filatov wasn’t the only person who is questioning the match, former world champion Vladimir Kramnik also criticized the quality of the games. Formar champion called Ding’s blunder a “childish” and “weak” behaviour.
