Carlos Alcaraz withdraws from Madrid Open: Injury pulls his out the run

World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz has stepped out of the Madrid Open season due to multiple injuries and giving himself enough time to recover to perform at the French Open that is set to happen in May 2025. Alcaraz was injured during his lost match against Holger Rune at the final match of Barcelona Open, sustaining hamstring and groin injuries, putting him in a volatile position to pursue in the Madrid Open.

“I couldn’t practice the entire week and found out I had hamstring and groin injuries. I needed to listen to my body and make the right decision. On Monday I’ll have more medical tests and after that we will have a better idea on how long I’ll be out,” Alcaraz told the reporters. Naturally giving importance to the clay court, the young talent has opted out of the Madrid Open and will be under medical care and aim at breaking through at the Roland Garros.

Although Madrid Open is Carlos Alcaraz’s home masters, the Spaniard has set his priorities and is looking forward to becoming more healthy and fit to get the title at the French Open. He expressed his emotions by saying, “It hurts me not to be able to play here in Madrid in front of my people, my friends and my family”.

The decision, although not an easy one to make, Carlos Alcaraz will be eyeing to retain his title as The French Open champion from last year when he beat Alexander Zverev. The 21- year old’s game and skill is one to watch out for as a true contender for the masters.
