‘Brutal’ Year: Prince William Opens Up About Family’s Cancer Battles

USA Today reported that Prince William said that this past year was ‘probably the hardest’ of his life due to the cancer diagnosis of Kate and his father Charles. A British royal prince discussed, how it was difficult to be a king-in-waiting and to support his family in their fights against health issues. The 42-year-old Princess of Wales is taking preventative chemotherapy and King Charles, 75, had cancer first diagnosed in February and is undergoing treatment.

At the recent Earthshot Prize awards ceremony held in South Africa, Prince William said he was proud of how both his wife and father have coped with their illnesses. The Prince was alone at the environmental awards because Kate was still in the process of recuperating from treatment. He was pleased to give an update on his wife’s health by saying she was doing “really well” in the situation she was in. Although it was tough, William urged to continue executing his royal duties stead of keeping up with the drawbacks of the times.

During the more relaxed part of the conversation, Prince William told the story behind the recent beard growth of his family. At first, he wanted to shave his beard so his nine-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte, cried at her father’s new look, as she sobbed, “I don’t like it.” Nevertheless, the Prince helped sustain and at last succeeded in persuading her to accept the change. This personal revelation gave the viewers a rather rare chance to see how a typical family is in the royal walls.
