Big Machine Racing’s No. 48 team received an L1level penalty after the race at Michigan International Speedway. The Chevrolet, driven by Parker Kligerman, violated NASCAR’s rule on rear spoiler modifications.
The team was penalized for using parts that did not meet NASCAR standards, and for failing to meet minimum weight requirements after the race. The penalty includes a deduction of 20 driver and owner points, and five NASCAR playoff points. Crew chief Patrick Donahue was fined $25,000.
Following this penalty, the team now has only a 16point lead above the Xfinity Series Playoff cutoff before the Daytona International Speedway race on Friday. There are five races left in the 2024 regular season.
