Australian Open 2025: Day 2 Highlights – Upsets and Thrills in Men’s and Women’s Singles

The second day of the Australian Open 2025 was filled with excitement and drama. Top tennis stars were battling on the court. Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Iga Świątek, and Naomi Osaka secured the headlines. Both were defeated in stunning upsets, shaking the tournament early on.

Men’s Singles: Rollercoaster Action

The men’s singles featured some high-octane action. Jannik Sinner showed his defeated Nicolas Jarry 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5), 6-1. Where Carlos Alcaraz swept aside Alexey Shevchenko with a comfortable 6-1, 7-5, 6-1 victory.

Novak Djokovic the defending champion of the tournament faced a tough challenge from Basavareddy. After losing the first set 4-6, Djokovic came back with his signature style and secure the winn in the next three sets 6-4, 6-3, and 6-2.

Alex Michelsen defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in another game, this was a notable moment in the history! A former world number 3, in four sets: 7-5, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Another heartbreak for the home crowd was when Nick Kyrgios was knocked out by Jacob Fearnley, who won 7-6 (7), 6-3, 7-6 (7).
