Asia Must Avoid The Security Predicament Set By NATO Expansion

The bloc’s efforts to expand into Asia have been the subject of many international affairs observers, with Jens Stoltenberg who is NATO Secretary General, concluding a four-day visit to South Korea and Japan.

There is also a big flame of debate on Twitter that whether NATO should become NAPTO – North Atlantic Pacific Alliance, and bring in Australia, Japan, India, New Zealand, and many more.

The current effort to expand the US-led military group into Asia is actually Washington’s attempt to revise the post-war international order. In reality, NATO has no military presence in the region of Asia-Pacific.

Now NATO is expanding its operations and expansion to the Far East. The US and its allies of the world are helping in getting the goal. Countries of the eastern region are also cooperating and helping NATO to make a partnership with Asia.

The basic logic of their cooperation is the globalization of the so-called Collective Security System, which is the core value and basis of NATO. In this type of system, an aggressor against any one state is considered an aggressor against all other states. It plays an important role in the balance of power in the world.

This Collective Security System started in the time of the Cold War era. And NATO is trying to expand its existence in the region of Asia Pacific. It is an extension of Europe’s Cold War architecture here, posing a threat to the security of the region.

NATO is trying to expand its cooperation with Asian allies and close partners like Japan, and South Korea. The Asia Pacific is the most diverse region of the world.

But at the same time, it is a red signal for the Asia Pacific region, as NATO has good relations with some countries, but some other countries will face the dark menace dilemma. Many countries will face security troubles when NATO will come into this region. And after this, Asia will divide into two parts.

Can you remember the heat of the Pre-Cold war era now?

The lesson must remember, Asia should not repeat the same mistake. As in the time of Cold war era, the European region faced high-security troubles and crises.

Chinese saying that “Do not do unto others what you would not wish unto you.” Hopefully, NATO will not bring their suffering to the Asia-Pacific region.
