According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) report an American Airlines flight and a Black Hawk helicopter collided near Reagan Washington National Airport around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
The FAA reported that a PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet, operating as American Airlines Flight 5342, was approaching Runway 33 when it collided midair with a Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk helicopter. The flight had departed from Wichita, Kansas.
Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate the incident, with the NTSB leading the investigation.
