Al Pacino and Katie Holmes to portray connected traumatic roles in ‘Captivated’ – Based on Getty Kidnap

Director Dito Montiel is planning for a Kidnap Drama titled ‘Captivated’ starring Al Pacino and Katie Holmes, based on the 1973 John Paul Getty kidnap in Italy that created media headlines. The grandson of one of the richest businessmen in the world at the time, J. Paul Getty III was kidnapped by a deadly Italian mafia.

The much spoken kidnap was followed by dramatic dispute and ransom talks that involved a severed ear that intensified the situation and has already been adapted into a movie by Ridley Scott in 2017. The story has even more drama to be enacted as Dito Montiel is helming the project bankrolled by Andrea Iervolino.

The mob thriller ‘Captivated’ will start filming in Rome by the end of May 2025 in which seasoned actors Al Pacino and Katie Holmes are playing two contrasting and traumatic roles. The story will revolve around the strange connection between Calbrian Mafia Boss Saro Mammoliti and John Paul Getty’s mother Gail Getty.

The official gist about the two characters read, “two souls from completely different worlds, drawn together by a tragedy that will forever change their lives. Amid psychological tension and subtle desire, theirs is a seductive game of chess that adds a crucial layer to the mystery of the Getty kidnapping”, reports Variety

The Italian based production company recently dispatched and run by Andrea Iervolino are excited to be a part of this project and said, “We are proud to be part of a project with such powerful storytelling, an outstanding cast and a strong, personal directorial vision from Dito Montiel”.
One interesting production part is Michael Mammoliti, the nephew of Saro Mammoliti is involved in the project as one of the producers who was angered with the way his family was portrayed in the 2017 Ridley Scott adaptation, ‘All the Money in the World’.
