Abu Dhabi Crowned the World’s Happiest City in 2025

Abu Dhabi has become the happiest city in the world in 2025, with almost ideal levels of happiness among its people. In the recent global city happiness index it has been reported that 99% of the residents in Abu Dhabi are happy, 96% like the friendly nature of the community and 93% of the residents suggest that living in the city is happier than their home cities. This is attributed to the fact that the city has the ideal balance of all fundamental facilities, safety, culture and parks. The results indicate that happiness in the modern world is associated more with emotional well, social bonds as well as quality of life than conventional economic growth.

Abu Dhabi Tops the Global Happiness Index

The top ranks in the global happiness surveys endorse Abu Dhabi as the example of inclusive and eco-friendly city life in the UAE. The capital focuses on cultural, nature and walkable surroundings and has built a place where individuals flourish. The report indicates that 99% of the residents report having been happy and 96% report having appreciated the positive spirit that is present in the community and 93% report that they are happier in Abu Dhabi than in other places. The city symbolizes well-being oriented development, rather than wealth-driven, with its picturesque waterfronts and gorgeous parks and such cultural attractions as the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

In the top 20, Dubai scored 16th again proving the commitment of the UAE to safety, diversity, and quality of life. These cities are similar and serve as examples of a contemporary philosophy of cities that adds a mixture of innovations and emotional well-being.

Global Top 10: Culture and Diversity as Happiness Drivers

Medellin, Colombia, followed at the second position, with 97% of the inhabitants indicating happiness. Medellin continues to be a trend setter in terms of urban renewal in South America due to its immortal spring climate, vibrant nightlife and green metamorphosis.

Cape Town, South Africa came in third, praised due to its natural beauty, vibrant food culture and coziness of the community. As shown in the Top 10 list, those cities which are creative, inclusive, and balanced in terms of their living style are ahead in happiness:

  • #4 Mexico City: Bourgeois nightlife and great city power.
  • #5 Mumbai: Strong and deep local affiliation and strength.
  • Beijing (#6) and Shanghai (#7): Urban sophistication and cultural pride.
  • #8 Chicago: Urban genius and patriotism.
  • #9 Seville: Adored because of charm and local customs.
  • #10 Melbourne: Adored by its cozy and vibrant nature.

Expanding the Happiness Map Worldwide

The Top 20 Happiest Cities of 2025 embrace the whole continent – Asia and Africa, Europe and Latin America. Smaller European towns, such as Brighton (UK), Porto (Portugal) and Valencia (Spain) are still becoming more popular because of culture and the sense of community.

The cities of Asia and Africa like Chiang Mai (Thailand), Marrakech (Morocco), Hanoi (Vietnam), and Jakarta (Indonesia) demonstrate that happiness is found in connection and belonging as well as in luxury.
